author Patton Oswalt will serve as host of the 13th Annual VES Awards on February 4, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. This marks Oswalt’s fourth engagement as host of the prestigious annual celebration that recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation.

What the HBO Streaming Service Could Look Like

It’s not TV. It’s HBO Go-It-Alone.

That is what we’ll call the standalone streaming service HBO CEO Richard Plepler finally confirmed Wednesday would be available in the U.S. next year. Tellingly and somewhat unexpectedly, Plepler did not refer to the standalone service as HBO Go, the existing digital extension of the core HBO offering that everyone has been waiting to break off. While that doesn’t necessarily mean the new standalone product won’t be called HBO Go, it’s possible there will be an entirely new brand introduced.

The Visual Effects Society is now accepting submissions for the upcoming 13th Annual VES Awards, taking place February 4, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Submissions will be open until November 21, 2014 for Visual Effects in Film, Television, Special Venue, Games & Animated created between January 1 and December 31, 2014.

To submit or find answers to any questions you may have about submitting, visit awards.visualeffectssociety.com. VES notes that viewing materials must be uploaded between November 10-21 this year to be considered.
