Catherine Tate is a visual effects/compositing supervisor and instructor with eighteen years of experience in the motion picture industry. To date she has worked on more than thirty major films.
From 1991 to 1995, she worked at Industrial Light and Magic in Marin County, California, USA before moving to London, England where she worked at Peerless Camera Company Ltd. and Framestore CFC. In 1997 she moved back to the United States and again worked for Industrial Light and Magic until 2003. Since then she has worked at Wildbrain, The Orphanage, and ESC Entertainment in California, and at Photon VFX in Australia.
She is now based in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California and has held the position of Compositing Lead at theAcademy of Art University since 2004.
Her film credits include: Men in Black, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, Sleepy Hollow, Galaxy Quest, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Hulk, and Hellboy.
Some of her more recent work has included: Half-Life, which won several awards in 2008-09, as well as being Officially Selected for Sundance 2008; Dear Lemon Lima, which also won several awards including Outstanding Performance winnerLos Angeles Film Festival; and the 2009 Student Academy Award winner Bohemibot by Brendan Bellomo. (Both Half-Life andDear Lemon Lima also won Jury Awards at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival in 2009). Most recently the 2011 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner Circumstance, and the Officially Selected short dramaCrazy Beats Strong Every Time.
