Pam Hogarth

Over my almost 40 years in VFX, I helped people and organizations make their dreams come true. During that time I wore many hats, including: career guidance, teaching, placement, marketing, publicity, and education. My final hurrah before hanging up my professional hat was as a founding partner in Eido, a company that facilitated training for five of the IATSE creative guilds, providing skills-based classes, free to guild members. Other adventures included Director of Marketing for LOOK Effects; 12 years helping to build Gnomon School of Visual Effects into the premiere educational institution for careers in high-end computer graphics for entertainment and advising, teaching and placing hundreds of aspiring digital artists. Teaching includes the Art Directors Guild, cgsociety.org, Gnomon, Digital Media Institute, Otis College of Art and Design, and the American Film Institute. From year one, I have been extremely active in the Visual Effects Society, including serving seven terms on the Board of Directors, twice being elected as the first female Vice Chair and Chair of the Education Committee. I was also a founding member of the Board of Managers, where I served three terms as Secretary. I have an MEd in Vocational Counseling from Kent State University and a BS from Springfield College in Fine Art and Psychology. Now I spend my days "going analog" as a fiber and paper artist.

Role with the VES
I am proud to have been a member since the first year of the VES and of the LA Section. During my many years with VES I served multiple terms on the Board of Directors, one term as Secretary and two terms as (the first female) Vice Chair; served six years on the LA Section Board of Manager - also as Secretary; for many years I was Co-Chair of the Education Committee and multiple other committees. I am glad to have done my part to help grow The Society and create opportunities for our members to improve their careers and lives.
