Kevin Scott is a creative character animator with a strong technical skillset, a keen artistic eye, and exceptional problem-solving abilities. Kevin displays rapid adaptability to proprietary tools and leads with excellent communication skills, efficient collaboration, and a genuine love of storytelling.
Kevin graduated from George Brown College with an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design before taking Computer Animation at Sheridan College the year following. His first job was as a Supervising Animator at Mainframe Entertainment, where he spent 3 years working on series such as the pioneer CGI TV series Reboot and the popular Beasties: Transformers.
In 2000, Kevin moved to ILM, from Tippett Studio as their Senior Character Animator. Further advancing his technical skills and artistic expertise, he was able to work on notable films, including Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Kevin continued on as a Senior Character Animator at Sony for a few years, bringing to life features like Spider-Man 3, Beowulf, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. After becoming Digital Domain’s Lead Character Animator in 2008, he worked on such films as Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Kevin worked as a freelance Lead Character Animator before settling down within the MR. X team in 2015. Working at such studios as DNeg in London, ILM Singapore, and Dr. D in Sydney Australia. Also, during that time, he spent some of his energy teachings at Otis College of Art & Design and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, even guest lecturing at Texas A&M University in Austin. In his teaching, Kevin was valued for his encouraging attitude with the students and valuable professionally tested expertise.
Since joining MR. X, Scott has supervised a number of projects as the acting Animation Director, including the feature films TAU, Ben-Hur, American Made, Goosebumps2, Hellboy, the Netflix seven-part series Godless, and television series’ American Gods and The Strain.
With 24 years of experience under his belt, Kevin Scott pursued even greater character animation heights with his recent work in Guillermo del Toro’s Academy Award-winning film, The Shape of Water. For his contribution, Kevin and his fellow MR. X colleagues were nominated for a BAFTA Award in the Best Special Visual Effects category.
