David Zeevalk

3D VFX Supervisor Dave Zeevalk graduated from The Art Institute of California-San Diego, with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Media Arts and Animation. He began his professional career at Zoic Studios in Los Angeles, as a Jr. 3D Generalist, working his way up to a position as a lead 3D Generalist. During his time at Zoic, he was given the opportunity to work on many award-winning television shows, commercials and video game trailers/cinematics. Some titles include Fox’s “Fringe,” HBO’s “True Blood,” ABC’s “Flash Forward,” Craftsman NASCAR commercials, and a “James Bond: Quantum of Solace” video game trailer. In order to broaden his knowledge, Dave branched off to the freelance world as a 3D Generalist and Compositor. He worked at several different studios around Los Angeles before accepting a staff lead artist position at Look Effects. While there, Dave spent several years expanding the company’s 3D Department and pipeline and lead 3D teams on such shows as ABC’s “Lost” and Fox’s “Bones.” At Look, Zeevalk supervised both episodic television and feature film projects, including such high-profile credits as: “Life of Pi,” “Moonrise Kingdom,” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” “Noah,” “A Most Violent Year,” “Gotham,” “Games of Thrones,” and “Babylon Fields.” During this time, he was also privileged to work as a 3D instructor at the world-renowned Gnomon School of Visual Effects. After many years in California, Dave decided to head back to his home coast, where he accepted the position of 3D Supervisor/VFX Director at BIGSMACK, then based only in Philadelphia. At BIGSMACK, Dave gained invaluable experience in the broadcast and network branding world, before continuing on to New York City, accepting the CG Supervisor position at Look Effects’ NYC office. Now he’s thrilled to work on projects like “The Leftovers,” “Public Morals,” “Mr. Robot” and more at AlkemyX’s New York office.
