Brian Connor

Brian Connor is a Production VFX Supervisor with over 22 years of experience in high-end feature film and episodic visual effects. He recently wrapped post on ‘DEVOTION’ for director J. D. Dillard as the overall client-side VFX Supervisor. He recently won a VES, BAFTA and OSCAR for the vfx work he supervised on Denis Villeneuve's ‘DUNE’.
Previously, Brian supervised George Clooney’s World War II drama ‘CATCH 22’ for Hulu. His work on the series earned him an Emmy Nomination at the 2019 Emmy Awards for ‘Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role’. Brian also worked as DNEG’s VFX Supervisor on ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (2019) which won a 'Saturn' Award, and prior to that was DFX Supervisor on Warner Bros. monster movie ‘The Meg’ (2018).
Brian has extensive experience of bringing the physical reality of in-camera elements together with state-of-the-art digital material to create seamless, photo-realistic results, which can also be seen in his work on films such as ‘War of the Worlds’, ‘Wonder Woman’ and 'Dune'. Brian is a team player with a solid knowledge of the on-set environment gained through his work on films such as ’The Host’ and 'Chaos Walking' where he served as on-set Supervisor, and ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’, as well as ‘Star Trek Beyond’ for which he was part of the on-set supervision team. He is versatile and resourceful, and always looks for the most appropriate and practical methodologies at every stage of the visual effects process.
Before working client-side, Brian worked for DNEG for 7.5 years, and a number of top-tier visual effects houses, including Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) for 10 years, and Digital Domain, where he helped establish the new divisions in Singapore and Vancouver respectively. There he made key contributions to the facilities and films including "Iron Man',  ‘Transformers’ and 'Ender's Game’ among many others.
Brian is a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the Visual Effects Society (VES).
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, USA, Connor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting from Illinois State University, where he was awarded 'Mass Communication Graduate of the Year' 2003. While in San Francisco he also taught his chosen field of endeavor at the Academy of Art University for four years. Brian co-authored a book called 'The Encyclopedia of Visual Effects' and was a contributor to Ron Brinkmann’s 2nd edition of 'The Art & Science of Digital Compositing'.
