Billy Brooks

Billy Brooks has been working in the visual effects and animation industry for 20 years. He’s worked on quite a few summer blockbusters and you’ve most likely already seen his work on the big screen. Most recently Billy is a Producer and the Visual Effects Supervisor on Con Man. Con Man is a comedy series created by Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion of Firefly fame. Billy is also is the Exectuive Producer at Otoy, Inc. Otoy is a cutting-edge cloud rendering and advanced holographic technology company specializing in software solutions for virtual reality, augmented reality, and visual effects.

Prior to owning his own visual effect company and consulting at Otoy, Billy worked in many of the biggest visual effects and animation studios in the industry. He worked at DreamWorks Animation, Industrial Light & Magic, Electronic Arts, Sony Imageworks, to name a few. One of Billy's career highlights was being fully responsible for making R2-D2 fly in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones.

 

After finishing Xmen 2 at Cinesite Hollywood, Billy decided to take a break from film and jump into the wold of video games at Electronic Arts. As Lighting Director of EA Los Angeles, he was responsible for working with the tools team in developing a more artist friendly lighting pipeline. Working with the Art Director, Billy would also manage the team of lighters and help them achieve the established creative look of the game.

In 2008, he returned to film at Sony Imageworks with Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.

 

Billy attended the film school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and furthered his education at the School of Communication Arts. He is a member of the Visual Effects Society, ASIFA Hollywood,. BMI, and The Animation Guild.

 
In his spare time, Billy is also an award winning electronic musician, an avid digital photographer.
