Please join the VES New York Section for the 3rd Annual VES Awards after-after party as we celebrate the finest achievements in visual effects artistry - from New York's VFX community to the VES Award winners around the globe. This year, the Visual Effects Society is proud to present the VES Empire Award to visionary director Darren Aronofsky.
From his first feature, the low-budget, black-and-white Pi, on through the powerful Requiem For A Dream, the mind bending sci-fi tale The Fountain, the raw redemption of the The Wrestler, the chilling Black Swan and, most recently, the re-imagined biblical epic, Noah, Darren has never failed to break new ground and has consistently challenged audiences with his visceral style and unique vision. His unflinching approach to storytelling and bold use of visual effects has firmly established him as an important and influential voice for a generation of filmmakers. Born and bred in Brooklyn, he has remained true to his roots and continues to live and make films in New York both as a director and producer at his company Protozoa Pictures. Beyond his artistic endeavors, Darren has also taken an active role in a number of environmental causes including climate change and animal welfare. It is with great pride that the New York Section is able to honor Mr. Aronofsky with the 2017 VES Empire Award.
