Labor Dispute Forces Change of Venue for 9th Annual VES Awards Show.

"Due to a labor dispute between the hotel workers of LOCAL 11 and the Century Plaza Hotel, we have just changed the date and location of the 9th Annual VES Awards Show.

Representatives from the IATSE are planning a meeting of employees from [REDACTED] --ed.

"Thursday, December 9, at 7:30pm

O’Briens Bar and Restaurant on Main Street in Santa Monica.


Reps from the IA, (who have been holding meetings with employees from several VFX companies), will be present to answer questions and disseminate information regarding their interest in representing VFX artists throughout the industry."

IATSE Formally Announces Visual Effects Organizing Drive

"For over a year IATSE has been working with members of the Visual Effects community to establish an organizing campaign for artists. To that end they are formally and publicly announcing that effort. In addition they have hired Jim Goodman as a full time representative whose sole responsibility will be to organize VFX artists into IATSE.


IBEW Local 40 will be holding its’ 3rd Informational Meeting

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 40 Hosts Introductory Meeting for VFX Artists




Several sources have reported that IBEW Local 40 hosted an exploratory meeting with Visual Effects artists for possible union representation.
